EMDR Intensives

Accelerated Healing, Focused Support

EMDR intensives offer a powerful, time-efficient way to work through trauma, limiting beliefs, and emotional blocks. Instead of attending weekly sessions over many months, intensives provide extended, focused EMDR sessions across two or more days—allowing for deeper processing in a shorter time frame.

This approach is ideal for those who want to experience significant progress quickly, or who prefer a more structured, immersive format.

EMDR Intensives in Leeds & Online

Focused trauma therapy designed to help you make meaningful progress in a shorter period of time.

For some people, weekly therapy isn't practical. Whether you're travelling a long distance, have a demanding job, or simply want to work more intensively, an EMDR Intensive offers the opportunity to spend longer, uninterrupted time focusing on your recovery.

Rather than attending weekly 50-minute sessions, EMDR Intensives combine longer sessions over one or more days, allowing us to work more deeply while maintaining the same careful, evidence-based approach.

What Is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR Intensive is an extended therapy session, or series of sessions, designed to give you dedicated time to focus on processing traumatic experiences without the interruptions that naturally come with weekly therapy.

Many people find that having several hours together allows them to stay engaged in the therapeutic process, make connections more easily and build momentum.

Every intensive is individually planned around your needs. There is no "one-size-fits-all" programme, and the structure will depend on your history, goals and readiness for trauma processing.

Who Are EMDR Intensives Suitable For?

Who Are EMDR Intensives Suitable For? 〰️

EMDR Intensives may be appropriate if you:

  • Have experienced a single traumatic event.

  • Are living with PTSD or complex trauma.

  • Want to focus on childhood trauma or relational trauma.

  • Are recovering from sexual trauma or betrayal trauma.

  • Have limited availability for weekly therapy.

  • Live outside Leeds or travel from elsewhere in the UK.

  • Want to make significant progress over a shorter period of time.

During your assessment, we'll discuss whether an intensive is the most appropriate option for you.

Why Choose an EMDR Intensive?

Many people find that longer sessions allow them to become immersed in the therapeutic process without having to stop just as they begin making progress.

Benefits may include:

  • Greater continuity between sessions

  • More time for memory processing

  • Reduced travel for people living further away

  • Flexibility around work and family commitments

  • Dedicated time focused entirely on your recovery

For some people, this format simply feels more efficient and allows them to maintain momentum throughout therapy.

Are EMDR Intensives Right for Everyone?

Not necessarily.

For some people, weekly therapy remains the most appropriate option, particularly if they would benefit from a slower pace or require more time between sessions to consolidate their progress.

If you're unsure which approach is right for you, we'll discuss your circumstances during an initial consultation and decide together whether weekly EMDR or an intensive would best meet your needs.

Preparing for Your EMDR Intensive

Preparation is an important part of successful EMDR therapy.

For many clients, this includes one or more assessment and preparation sessions before the intensive itself. Together we'll develop grounding techniques, emotional regulation strategies and a clear treatment plan so that you feel ready to begin trauma processing.

This preparation helps ensure that therapy feels contained, manageable and as effective as possible.

Recovery doesn't end when the intensive finishes.

Towards the end of your intensive we'll review the progress you've made, discuss any ongoing reactions you may experience and develop a plan for the weeks ahead.

Depending on your needs, this may include:

  • A follow-up review session

  • Further weekly EMDR therapy

  • Additional intensive sessions if appropriate

  • Self-care and grounding strategies to support continued recovery

The aim is to help you leave therapy feeling supported and confident about your next steps.

Online EMDR Intensives

For suitable clients, EMDR Intensives can also be delivered online using secure video appointments.

Online EMDR has been shown to be effective for many people and can be particularly helpful if you live outside Leeds, have limited mobility or prefer to work from the comfort of your own home.

We'll discuss whether an online intensive is appropriate during your initial assessment.
